A Renaissance in Farming

What Happened To Our Food!

It's no secret our food is less healthy, less nutritious and even less tasty than it once was. We now know that industrialized agriculture has created problems than no one anticipated. In fact, with time to study the impacts of chemical pesticides and herbicides, preservatives, and excessive fertilizer use, we now know that the food alchemists are ruining our food.

The Realities of Modern Agriculture

We admire many of the advances of modern agriculture, which provides abundant and affordable food. However, with these advantages come some unsettling realities:

  • Most of our food travels long distances to reach us. It loses nutritional content with every additional mile.
  • One third of the cost of food goes to processing and transportation - which is a larger percentage than the farmer earns;
  • Virtually all chemical pesticides and herbicides have serious health effects
  • Agriculture consumes roughly 80% of our fresh water, and requires the same amount of petroleum products as used for all of our commercial and personal transportation.
  • 90% of the water, and 75% of the fertilizer used in farming is wasted and runs-off into our water, poluting our water supplies and causing environmental damage.
  • Agriculture regulators openly admit that farmers are dependent on immigrant labor, and the industry often ignores labor law abuses.
